Born and raised in the middle of the Templar woods of Tomar and currently based in Lisbon, .daphne. is a Portuguese visual artist mainly focused on organicist abstract painting.
With her work, she attempts to emulate Nature’s process of creation and/or destruction by exploring the formal similarities and repetitions which result from natural regulations and are present in everything around us.
Making use of a technique that obeys physical and chemical processes and does not allow much human control, she creates organic colorscapes that transport us to a reality where the laws of Nature are dominant and human rationality is minimized.
With this exploration, she intends not only to develop a bigger understanding of the formal language of Nature but also to remind us to look at it as a superior entity, totally functional and autonomous, from which we, humans, are only byproducts.
