smokedfalmon manifests as the inner creature that lives inside Nuno Ferreira, a being born under a stone in the early90’s, lost in his imagination ever since. Since adolescence he has found on the guitar an extension to his expression, exploring in a self-taught way the melodies and compositions that the instrument allowed him to create. Years later, while travelling by campervan through Europe, he acquired an effects pedal and a looper and saw on the street a way to sustain his journey, giving a new dimension to his creations and his relationship with music. Since then, music has been taking an increasingly prevalent place in his daily life, beginning to explore the world of electronic music, accepting the voice as a fundamental instrument, thus building what he now considers as “the falmon experience”.
Influenced by the melancholy of post-rock, the intensity of electronic music and the rawness of fado, it manifests itself as a solo music performance, where it tells stories of his travels and journeys within the psychedelic realm, exposing the fragility of his human structure while sharing his tales and experience, accepting that without darkness there would be no light. In a mixture of unlikely sounds, he shapes soundscapes that carry within them the emotional catharsis of this being, leaving the appeal to the vulnerability of introspection, making room for us to meet and grow together.
Played in several venues and some festivals in Portugal such as Arroz Estúdios (Lisbon), Humanifest (Leiria & Lousada), Casa Bô (Porto), Selina Showcase (Porto & Ericeira), Núcleo70 (Lisboa), The Ethical Assembly (Lisbon) and Caldas Late Night (Caldas da Rainha) to name a few.
Released an EP – Entretanto – with an independent label based in Barreiro, Panama Papers in 2021 and a self-released EP in 2020, both available on Bandcamp. Currently working on the production of the full-length album, expected to be out in the fall of 2022.
