Meta is Mariana Bragada who explores the essence of the voice.
Born in Bragança, Meta grew up with deep roots in nature and with the memory
of singing and dancing since always. She collects and weaves sounds of the
world together in a universal tapestry of both futuristic and traditional sounds,
based on her own inner and outer travels. Uniting technology with ancestral
inspiration, Meta re-creates visions and gives voice to manifestations through
chants in Portuguese (native), Spanish and English, sharing the vision of unity
and her journey as the destination.
In 2018 Meta partaked in the Festival Bons Sons, Festival Um ao Molhe,
TedxPorto, SofarSounds Porto/Coimbra/Madrid and recorded for “A Música
Portuguesa a Gostar Dela Própria” and Antena 1. In 2019 she was invited by
Antena 1 to participate in Festival da Canção (Portuguese Eurovision Song
Contest) in which she was a finalist with original composition/interpretation
“Mar Doce”.
In 2019, Meta released the single “Saudade” and later the debut EP Mónada –
released independently/author’s edition, available now on all online platforms
and in physical format.
In February 2020, in collaboration with the agency CHAU and with the support
of the GDA Foundation, she held her first European tour across 4 countries,
playing in Sofar Sounds Manchester, Sofar Sounds London, Madame Claude
in Berlin, Sofar Sounds Madrid, closing on the 1st of March at Bodega Saltó in
Barcelona.
At the end of 2020, Meta was one of the projects chosen by the Jury’s contest
for the Festival Emergente and won the “Best Musical Project” award to record
her first album during 2021.
