muti supports artists in several different ways. One of them is our stipend program in which we onboard artists based in Portugal into the world of blockchain. Each artist receives a stipend, education about the blockchain technology and how to use the received funds.

Our third artist stipend is Alexandre Homem, based in Alentejo. Here you can find his testimony about his time as a stipend artist.

Having won the muti stipend was a much-appreciated opportunity.

My artistic work has always been a bit random, so when I moved from Lisbon to Alentejo I was determined to restart my artistic path and seriously dedicate myself to a new technique.

The stipend represented an encouragement that I had wanted for some time. In addition to the recognition and validation of my artistic commitment, I was also introduced to the world of cryptocurrency, a knowledge that I was interested in but hadn’t been able to reach on my own.

I used the stipend to invest in a large-scale work, a 2×3 meter panel which I developed during the months of September-October. The panel proposes a reflection on human behavior towards nature. I consider it to be my best project so far, something that was only possible thanks to the support and financial security of not having to worry about it being sold.

I will show the panel as part of my exhibition at the municipal museum of Estremoz, in Alentejo, on the 26th November. Adding to this, Muti has also created an NFT form of another art piece of mine that is now part of the Muti virtual NFT gallery, and which took part in a physical NFT exhibition in Cacilhas.
